Okay, one last Christmas present post for the rest of the year…

This was the present of all presents. My boyfriend is the guy that is hard to buy for because he downloads all his music and movies, and his mother buys him all his clothes (in a loving way, not like a creepster). Every year I go through this moment of panic, fearing I will get him the worst gift he’s ever received. However, this year my financial limitations for Christmas were abundant, which forces me to be as creative as possible. Introducing: the cookbook.

My boyfriend, Nick, is a foodie to the max. He even hinges on snobbery. But I respect that. It’s something he is passionate about, and I usually get to reap the benefits. No complaints here. Our cookbook that we have right now is just a three-ring binder with a bunch of scraps of paper all thrown in a very unorganized manner. My initial idea was simply to design these recipes into a fun and readable format but then the idea dawned on me to add more recipes from his friends and family. A few emails and a lot more hours later, and I had this cookbook printed out and in my hands.

Now jump ahead to Christmas Eve when Nick and I exchange our gifts. I saved the cookbook for last, thinking it might add some drama to it. He is either going to think “it’s cute” or be really touched by it. Well, he tore the wrapping paper to reveal the book and slowly the tears rolled down his cheeks. He cried! Success! I’ve never made it to the crying level! He blamed it on being tired when I really think it was my use of color and clean, attractive layout that made the pipes burst.

Christmas 2010 was a hit!
